For good spirits

🌿 Why is one sauna good, but another makes you want to leave faster?

Many people have experienced the same thing – you go into the sauna, everything looks great, the heat is on, the spirit is there, the stove is firing like it should… but after a few minutes you want to get out. Not because it’s too hot, but because it’s just not right.

This is what Albert and Eve were talking about one evening.

The sauna was already warming up, and from the outside everything seemed perfect. The stones are hot, the air is warm, the wood crackles softly. Eve sat down on the bench, was silent for a moment and then looked at Albert.

“Don’t you think it’s hard to breathe in here?”

Albert did not answer immediately. He stood up, opened the ventilation a little and then sat back down.

“Now wait a few minutes,” he said calmly.

And after a while, the feeling really changed.

The air became lighter. Breathing became calmer. And therein lies one of the biggest differences between a good and a bad sauna.

🌬️ The problem is often not the heat

People often think that feeling unwell in the sauna means only one thing – that the temperature is too high. But in practice, the problem is much more often in the air itself.

If in the sauna:

  • there is no normal air exchange;
  • the spirit becomes too sharp;
  • humidity is unbalanced;
  • people are constantly pouring out the spirit without pause;

your body gets tired much faster.

And the interesting thing is that you start to feel it not in your body, but in your head. There is a heaviness, a tiredness, a feeling that “enough is enough”. Sometimes even dizziness or the desire to get out faster.

It is not a weakness.

It’s the body’s response to overload.

🔥 A good sauna is not one where it’s just hot

After a moment, Eve smiled.

“It’s very different now.”

And this is a moment that many people do not notice. People often try to make a sauna “stronger”, thinking that this automatically means a better sauna.

But experienced sauna people usually do the opposite.

🌿 They are watching:

  • whether it’s easy to breathe in the sauna;
  • or the spirit is not an ass;
  • whether the heat is even;
  • whether there is a feeling of “pushing” the air after throwing on a long piece.

Because a good sauna is not a battle against the heat. In a good sauna, the body relaxes rather than trying to defend itself.

💧 Too much spirit can spoil the whole feeling

“Many people think that the more spirit, the better,” Albert said.

“But sometimes one cup is enough.”

And this is indeed one of the most common problems. If the spirit is made too aggressive, the air becomes heavy and it becomes harder to breathe. Especially in smaller saunas, you can feel it very quickly.

💧 That’s why a good sauna is not usually a continuous casting of spirits. Rhythm is much more important:

  • throw up your spirits;
  • let the sauna “calm down”;
  • give your body time to adapt;
  • observe pauses.

And that’s when a sauna starts to feel nice.

🌡️ Temperature alone tells you nothing

On another evening, Eve once asked:

“How many degrees are you here?”

“Ninety-five,” the owner proudly replied.

Albert just smiled.

Because temperature in itself doesn’t mean anything. Two saunas at the same temperature can feel completely different.

🌡️ That’s why experienced people often use thermohydrometers – not for beauty, but to see how humid the sauna is and whether everything is in balance.

Sometimes the problem is not that the sauna is too hot. The problem is that the heat, humidity and air do not “work together”.

🧖‍♂️ Even a sauna hat can change the whole experience

After a while, Eve put on her hat and sat higher up on the bench again.

“It feels completely different now,” she said.

And this is no exaggeration.

The hot air rises upwards in the sauna, so your head overheats much faster than the rest of your body. That’s why quality sauna hats help you feel more balanced and keep you comfortable in the sauna for longer.

Many people think that a hat is just an accessory. Usually until they try on a good hat for the first time in a proper sauna.

🌿 And sometimes the problem is not the person, but the sauna itself

At the end of the evening, Eve sat outside and quietly drank tea.

“It’s interesting,” she said, “how many people think they just don’t know how to take a bath.”

Albert nodded.

“Although sometimes all you have to do is clear the air, reduce aggression and things change.”

And therein lies the main answer.

Not always:

  • more heat;
  • more long;
  • sit for longer;
  • “withstand”.

Sometimes a good sauna starts at the moment when you stop trying to win the sauna.
